In 2019 I set out to make a Maloof rocking chair. This chair took every woodworking skill I had and took them to a whole ‘nother level. I was able to learn new skills and hone the ones I already had.
After the first chair was done I just had to make another one. The first one took well over 100 hours, the second one just under 40. Whenever I make another one I’m hoping to get it under 30.
Every year I make at least 3 gift boxes, for going away gifts, weddings, or a special occasion. I got tired of spending all my time dialing in the table saw for a perfect miter and I designed and built my own miter joint jig. This thing makes perfect miter joints every time and takes no time at all to set up.
My sister-in-law is an avid knitter. When I drew her for our family secret Santa years ago I knew exactly what to make her.
Wood is my favorite material to work with, it sculpts nicely, it’s strong, and has just enough variation to keep you guessing.
I’ve made all sorts of things in wood ranging from a wood engagement ring to two Maloof style rocking chairs. These pictures only scratch the surface of what I’ve done in wood but hopefully they show you a small part of my experience.
